Still Deep in the Blog Overhaul
The tutorials may be temporarily paused, but the collection of strange inspiration absolutely is not.
The huge blog upgrade is still ongoing, and honestly, it’s turned into a much bigger project than I originally expected. I’ve spent a lot of time recently updating older posts, improving images, fixing links, rewriting sections, and trying to make everything cleaner, more useful, and easier to navigate overall.
There’s still plenty left to do, including adding lots of texture and reference images throughout the blog. It’s definitely taking time, but I can already see how much stronger the tutorials and posts are becoming because of all the improvements.
Outside of the blog work, I recently visited a museum and ended up taking far too many close-up photos of textures, minerals, fossils, patterns, and strange details that instantly made me think of creature design and horror artwork inspiration.

On separate days, my partner and I also ended up wandering around photographing spiders and little snails after spotting them outside. He’s become very good at helping me look for strange little creatures and interesting textures at this point 😂

Another thing I’ve been excited about lately is preparing for the arrival of some Madagascar hissing cockroaches next week. Their vivarium is currently empty and waiting, but I’d love to keep sharing updates as they grow. They’ll still be reasonably small when they arrive, so it’ll be really interesting to document how much they change over time. Honestly, Madagascar hissing cockroaches already feel weirdly on-brand for the blog.

Chewy, of course, has continued supervising everything from the sidelines like a tiny furry manager, making sure productivity remains at acceptable levels.

As much as I’m enjoying improving the existing content, I honestly can’t wait to finally get the blog overhaul finished so I can fully dive back into creating brand new tutorials again. I’ve got plenty of ideas waiting in the shadows already.
